The aim of this group is to provide companionship for members who are on their own and would like to take part in a variety of activities, but would rather not do so alone. It could be a day or half-day. Members could take turns to suggest an outing - perhaps visit a garden, a place of interest, have a lunch, visit the theatre, go to a concert, or meet at a garden centre for coffee and cake...
The Weald and Downland Living Museum - 25th March 2022
For our March meeting (MOTO1) Members on their Own had a most enjoyable day at The Weald and Downland Living Museum at Singleton. The weather was warm and sunny - just perfect!
We managed to explore most of the large site with houses and buildings spanning 1000 years. There were sheep with lambs, Percheron horses ploughing, chickens roaming free and lots of ducks beside the pond.
We saw demonstrations of spinning (spinning wheel and the drop spindle), sampled bread and oat biscuits from the 17th Century bakehouse, saw where The Repair Shop TV show was filmed and later saw three of their team walking round the paths.
A perfect day!
