The group currently has a total of around 45 members. Our walks are about 5 miles long and 2 hours or so duration. We like to have a good chat along the way and also to enjoy the scenery and points of interest.
We are always happy to welcome new members to our happy band, so if you fancy a relaxing walk in the countryside with good company to chat to along the way, just turn up at one of our walks. For start details see the notice board at the monthly meeting, the 'What's On' page in the Members Area or contact the group leader.
2012 WALKS PROGRAMME

May 2012 Walks
Friday 11th. Chidham
Leader: Carol C.
Start: Start: Cot Lane, Chidham by the Barleycorn Public House. Map reference: SU 788 054 (OS Landranger 197, Explorer 120).
Directions: From Havant, take the A259 (Old Havant to Chichester road) towards Chichester. At Nutbourne, turn south by the Barleycorn Public house, which is on the corner of Cot lane where we start our walk. There is a small lay-by in the road, with a little more parking on the side of the road further on. There is also more parking on the side of the road opposite Cot Lane on the north side of the A259. Parking is very limited, so it would be an idea to car share if possible.
Route: Pleasant walk along the foreshore, with views towards Thorney Island, around Nutbourne and circling back through Chidham. The walk is flat with no stiles!
Distance: 4 miles - about 2 hours.
Afterwards: The Barleycorn is a welcoming hostelry serving food and drink including tea and coffee.
Friday 25th. Denmead circular tour.
Leader: Jenni A. and Pam K.
Start: Meet at Kidmore Lane car park in Denmead Map Reference: SU 659 121 (Explorer 120/Landranger 196)
Directions: The Car Park is on the north side of the B2150 road from Waterlooville, just after the Forest of Bere Public House. The car park is free and has public toilets.
Route: A circular walk around Denmead heading north from the car park towards Broad Halfpenny Downas far as the Bat & Ball Public House before returning to the start.
Distance: About 5 miles. Duration about 2½ hours.
Afterwards: The White Hart in the centre of the village served us very well the last time (!) and there are other refreshment choices available
