During the winter months the group meets at a given venue as shown on the programme. There we have a designated speaker, illustrated talk or demonstration. In summer we visit places of interest within a 25 mile radius of Portsmouth. We are a strong group of about 25 members all keen to learn more of the history of this area.

March 22nd

Visit to the Old Beneficial School of Portsea, now the home of the Groundlings Theatre Company.

Old Beneficial School in Kent Street. Parking and cafe on site £3 each.

     

April 26th

Visit to Warblington Church. To be confirmed

 

     

May 24th

A walk along Portsmouths old railway line approx. 1'/4 miles. Further information nearer the time, £2 each

 

     

June 28th

Visit to Emsworth Museum and stroll (with guide) around the village. £3 each. Numbers restricted to 20 people. Names please in order to book by June 22nd. The Museum is opening especially for us.

 

     

July 26th

SEPTEMBER ?? Is the National Heritage weekend. Various places open for free. Bursldon Brickworks is a possible visit -- lots going on there.

We are asking members to organise a talk or visit of their own choosing this month. Please any volunteers  
     
November 22nd
Peter Wakefield will talk on the "Story of the Postal Service". Please bring any  photos or cuttings etc. to this meeting as a "History" of what we have done  
     
There is no meeting in December
